Campus notes: Samvidhan Swabhiman rally

In a spirited continuation of the Constitution Day celebrations, Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) organised a “Samvidhan Swabhiman" rally on its campus. The event aimed at instilling and reinforcing the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution among students and faculty members. The rally commenced from the Department of Visual Arts and culminated at the National flag site in the central lawns. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation by members of the university community, including faculty, staff, and students. Preceding the rally, the university curated a series of intellectually stimulating and creatively enriching activities, such as poster-making competition which saw an overwhelming response from the students of various disciplines. The students expressed their understanding and reverence for the Constitution through thought-provoking artwork that reflected themes such as fundamental rights, duties, justice, liberty, equality and the democratic ethos of the nation. A quiz competition was also conducted to test and enhance the students’ knowledge of the Constitution, Indian polity, and key historical milestones of the country’s democratic journey. The rally was coordinated by Satish Ranga, head of the department of fashion and lifestyle design.

Reading session for students

Jagadhri: Readers Club of Maharaja Agrasen Mahavidyalaya organised a reading session for its members to mark World Book and Copyright Day, the theme of which was “Read your way". The officiating principal, Dr Karuna, encouraged the students to devote more time for reading books and inculcate a habit of reading, writing and sharing ideas. She encouraged the young students to explore characters and personalities they enjoyed reading about the most. She said the students should experience the joy of reading for pleasure and sharing the books they love. The convener of the Readers Club, Dr VS Dhillon, elaborated on the theme and stated that every student should develop a habit of reading and writing. He pointed out that the college was running courses on creative writing. The head of Hindi department Dr Usha Devi and the head of English department Rahul also motivated the students.

Check-up camp organised

Karnal: An eye and dental health check-up camp was organised at Dyal Singh College with collaborative efforts of the college’s Red Cross Society, NCC (Air Wing and Army Wing), and the NSS unit. The primary objective of the camp was to raise awareness about eye and oral health among students, teachers and non-teaching staff. The college principal, Dr Ashima Gakhar, flagged off a de-addiction awareness rally. Dental surgeon Dr Isha Bisla conducted oral examinations of the students, teachers and staff members. She also gave them practical tips to maintain oral hygiene. A team of ophthalmologists from Arora Eye Hospital conducted eye check-ups of 145 students and staff members and provided detailed guidance on issues such as screen time, digital fatigue and vision problems.

DCRUST pupils shine at cultural fest

Murthal: Students of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST) performed well in the cultural festival of IIT-Mandi. The university team got first place in the couple dance and second place in the street play. Vice-Chancellor Prof Shri Prakash Singh said along with studies, students should actively participate in cultural activities for their all-round development. He said by participating in cultural activities, we get an opportunity to understand each other’s culture. We also develop a team spirit, which was important to achieve success in any field.
