JU Employees Tournament witnesses enthusiastic participation, thrilling finals

JAMMU, Apr 24: The University of Jammu (JU) Employees Tournament continued with remarkable zeal and sportsmanship as employees from various departments came together for the finals of Carrom and Badminton, along with competitive rounds of Chess, held at the Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu.
In the Carrom finals, Sunny Bhat emerged victorious in the Women’s Singles, putting up a stellar performance to defeat Deepika Singh by 2-0. The Women’s Doubles saw a dominant display by Pooja Manhas and Riya Bajral, who secured a convincing 2-0 win over Dr Samita Wadhera and Mamta Verma.
In the Men’s Singles category, Dr Deepak Anand triumphed in a closely fought match against Popinder Singh with a 1-0 victory. Meanwhile, Dr Noor-ul-Asrar Beg and Sachin Bhatia displayed excellent coordination to overcome the duo of Vishal Sharma and Vaibhav Puri by 2-0 and take home the Men’s Doubles title.
Badminton matches drew equally strong interest, with the Men’s Singles semi-finals featuring Dr Sandeep Arya defeating Munish Sharma by 2-0, and Dr Tarseem Singh securing a 2-0 win over Vishal Sudan. In an intense final, Dr Tarseem Singh edged past Dr Sandeep Arya by 2-1 to clinch the title.
In the Men’s Doubles semi-finals, the pair of Dr Sandeep Arya and Dr Noor-ul-Asrar Beg defeated Aman Singh and Narinjan Singh by 2-0, while Dr Tarseem Singh and Dr Shubnandan Singh Jamwal overcame Neeraj Bhardwaj and Munish Sharma with the same scoreline. The final saw Dr Tarseem Singh and Dr Shubnandan Singh Jamwal maintain their strong form, defeating Dr Sandeep Arya and Dr Noor-ul-Asrar Beg by 2-0 to lift the Men’s Doubles trophy.
In the Women’s Singles semi-finals, Dr Chinmoyee Maharana beat Sonika Sharma by 2-0, while Dr Sushma Devi registered a 2-0 victory over Komal Bakshi.
Chess matches were equally gripping, showcasing the strategic minds of the participants. In the women’s category, Sonika Sharma outplayed Sunny Bhatt and Pooja Manhas secured a win against Dr Sushma Devi. On the men’s side, Ankit Badyal defeated Dalip Kumar, Dr Sandeep Arya overcame Raman Abrol, Akshitpal bested Manoj Kumar, Rajesh Kumar won against Karan Kumar and Summet Kapoor triumphed over Prince Partap Singh.
The successful execution of the tournament was made possible through the efforts of key officials including Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, Jeevan Lal, Dr Inderjeet Singh and Rishiv Sharma.
