AAP leaders hold candlelight march; BJP stages protest over Pahalgam terror attack
In a strong show of solidarity and condemnation, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and Patiala MLAs held a candlelight march to honour victims of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The march, led by MLAs Neena Mittal, Ajit Pal Singh Kohli, Chetan Singh Jouramajra and other senior leaders including PRTC Chairman Ranjodh Singh Hadana and Mayor Kundan Gogia, began at Mahatma Gandhi Samarak on Mall Road and culminated at Sri Kali Devi Mandir.
Expressing sorrow, MLA Ajit Pal Singh Kohli and Jouramajra said, “The Pahalgam attack is a cowardly act of violence that has shaken the conscience of the nation. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the families of the victims and the injured.”
MLA Neena Mittal, Chairman Hadana and Mayor Gogia added, “The loss of innocent lives is heartbreaking. We condemn this barbaric act and pledge support to the families affected.”
Participants lit candles and observed a moment of silence in memory of the victims. District leaders Megh Chand Shermajra and Tejinder Mehta said, “This candlelight march is not just a gesture of mourning but a call for justice. We demand the perpetrators face the full might of the law.”
Meanwhile, BJP Mahila Morcha president Jai Inder Kaur led a protest at Anardana Chowk, condemning the attack. “I strongly condemn the heinous and cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that targeted innocent tourists. This barbaric act of violence is an attack on humanity and peace,” she said.
Calling for decisive action, Kaur added, “The culprits behind such crimes must not go unpunished. We all stand united against terrorism and demand swift and strict action against those responsible."
She further expressed her condolences to the victims and their families, assuring them of her party’s support. “The BJP stands firmly with the families affected by this tragedy. I appeal to the citizens to maintain peace in this hour of grief," she said.
