Home Secy chairs meeting to steer police modernisation initiatives
A meeting of the State-Level Empowered Committee (SLEC) was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Misra here today to review and approve the State Action Plan for Modernisation of Police Forces for the financial year 2025–26.
During the meeting, Misra underlined state government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents of Haryana.
The committee approved the State Action Plan of Rs 22.09 crore, which included procurement of advanced arms and equipment like pistols and CQB (machine guns), FSL equipment like image and video enhancement software, facial recognition and comparison software, polygraph system with accessories, next generation sequencer and trinocular stereo-zoom microscope, along with purchase of hi-tech communication, security, CCTNS and training equipment. In order to ensure effective use of this modern equipment, domain experts will be engaged to provide technical guidance and support.
Misra highlighted the importance of deploying cutting-edge technology capable of delivering results swiftly. The meeting was informed that analogue communication equipment has been replaced by digital systems in 13 districts of Haryana till now, and all districts shall be covered under this soon.
Misra also directed officials to finalise the modalities under the Phase-I of Rs 150 crore-plan for modernisation of police force as announced in this year’s Budget.
The committee also deliberated on proposals aimed at strengthening the police infrastructure, modernising communication and mobility systems, upgrading forensic capabilities, and promoting the use of emerging technologies in data analytics in policing.
