Residents raise concern over mustard oil given under PDS in Bhiwani
Virender Singh, a resident of Dang Kala village in Bhiwani district, has alleged that mustard oil supplied through the local ration depot under the Public Distribution System (PDS) of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department to below poverty line (BPL) families is unusable and adulterated.
The complaint was made to the Deputy Commissioner during a ‘samadhan shivir’ today. Singh said that the use of substandard edible oil makes the food taste bitter. He requested the Deputy Commissioner to get an inquiry done into the “adulteration” in the oil.
Besides Singh, a number of residents approached the administrative officers with their complaints related to various issues at the ‘shivir’ organised at the DRDA auditorium in the Mini-Secretariat on Thursday.
DC Mahavir Kaushik, who presided over the session, assured residents and directed the officials concerned to take immediate cognisance of the grievances.
Residents of Rajiv Nagar locality in Bhiwani complained about the supply of contaminated water to their locality by the Public Health Engineering Department. The DC immediately directed the officials to look into the complaint and ensure the supply of clean and sufficient drinking water.
He emphasised the importance of timely repairs in cases of pipeline leakages, noting that water and electricity are fundamental services.
Kaushik directed all departments to ensure concrete action on the complaints received during the camp. He noted that many issues often resurface during ‘samadhan shivirs’ due to laxity by officials in resolving the issues. He directed the officials that detailed action reports should be uploaded to the grievance portal and reviewed at the state headquarters level.
During the camp, the issue of dilapidated road infrastructure was also taken up by a number of complainants. Residents of Rajiv Colony highlighted the poor condition of roads connecting Tigdana and Gujarani, causing inconvenience and posing risk to commuters.
The DC directed the departments concerned, including the Marketing Board, Haryana Urban Development Authority and the Public Works Department, to identify jurisdiction and submit reports for necessary repairs.
Several other issues were also brought up in the ‘shivir’, including complaints about land encroachments, missing public documents and pending school certificates.
