Nutrition fortnight ends with message of health and awareness
The district-wide Nutrition Fortnight Awareness Programme, conducted under the Child Development Project of the Community Development Office, concluded with vibrant events across various locations. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about the importance of proper nutrition, especially for women and children.
In Bhoranj constituency, the concluding ceremony was held at the anganwadi centre in Khuthdi village near Ladrour. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from women, who creatively conveyed the message of nutrition through a Scooty rally, songs and musical performances.
Asha Rani, Circle Supervisor of the project, emphasised the critical role of nutrition in the health and well-being of women and children. “A balanced and nutritious diet can prevent many diseases. The first 1,000 days of a child’s life are crucial, as significant physical and cognitive development occurs during this period. Therefore, nutritional care must begin from the time of conception,” she said. Health workers Ritika and Pooja, along with anganwadi workers from nearby centres and local women, were also present during the programme.
In Sujanpur constituency, the concluding function was organised at Kuthera village and was presided over by Child Development Project Officer Sanjay Garg. Addressing the gathering, he urged people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and include nutritious food in their daily meals. “Nutrition should become a people’s movement to ensure a healthier society,” he stated.
