Chhatbir Zoo fencing work completed at Rs 1.33 crore

The fencing work at Chhatbir Zoo has been completed at a cost of Rs 1.33 crore to prevent road mishaps in the area. Forests and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak also inaugurated several other visitor-friendly projects.

A wildlife cinema hall has been constructed to showcase films on wildlife conservation for tourists. The hall, with a seating capacity of 25-30 people, offers free entry to visitors.

Two new drinking water points were also inaugurated—one at the main entry gate and another near the walk-in aviary—bringing the total to five across the zoo.

The crocodile enclosure has been modernised as per Central Zoo Authority guidelines. It now features a see-through glass panel, offering visitors a close-up view of the reptiles.

In addition, a souvenir shop has been opened, allowing visitors to take home mementos and memorabilia as keepsakes from their visit.

A battery charging station has also been made operational to support the zoo’s 28 battery-operated vehicles and two trackless toy trains, ensuring uninterrupted transport for visitors.
