Madhya Pradesh: More Trade Fairs In Offing As Government Mulls Possibility

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Buoyed by the success of trade fairs in Gwalior and Ujjain, the state government is mulling more such Vyapar Melas (trade fairs) in all such regions with a huge scope.

This came up during the review of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), chaired by CM Mohan Yadav on Thursday.

To take the idea further, all the areas where trade fairs can be held will be studied and a comprehensive plan made. In September, a startup-related event is scheduled to be held in Bhopal.

As to the scope of trade fairs, it was discussed how the one in Gwalior earlier this year saw a business of Rs 3,327 cr.

Currently, the state is in 7th place in entrepreneurship, and all efforts will be made to improve its ranking. Yadav said that MSMEs are a medium for providing employment opportunities as well as self-employment to at least one person per family.

In every district, the MSME activities will be expanded according to the available capacity.

He said a facility to keep vegetables fresh will be provided, starting from Ratlam. Power looms and other traditional production activities also need to be accelerated, the CM pointed out.
