Toxic Water Crisis In Waluj! Villages Demand Clean Drinking Water As Factory Waste Contaminates Entire Region
The drinking water sources in Waluj industrial areas have been contaminated due to the influx of chemical-filled water. The affected villages should be included in the Mahanagar Pradesh Vikas Pradhikaran and clean drinking water should be provided to these villages,” demanded the director of the Gangapur Agriculture Produce Market Committee, Dr. Dnyaneshwar Neel, through a memorandum presented to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Industry Minister Uday Sawant, and MP Sandipan Bhumre.
It is mentioned in the memorandum that the contaminated water from the factories is released into the nullahs and lakes, and it gets accumulated in the drinking water sources. All the water sources in the Waluj industrial area are contaminated. The villages, including Kasoda, Eklahara, Nandeda, Naryanpur, Lanzi, Shivrai, Pimparkheda, Mehandipur, and others, do not get clean drinking water. These villages should be included in the Pradhikaran and should be supplied clean water from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) water supply.
Similarly, the agitators demanded that the construction in the nine villages handed over from CIDCO to MIDC, including Waluj Budruk, Waluj Khurd, Naigaon, Kamlapur, Jogeshwari, Ghanegaon, Ranjangaon, Ramrai, Vitava, and others, should be regularized.
A meeting in this regard was held in Mumbai, where MP Sandipan Bhumre, MLA Vilas Bhumre, and Industry Minister Uday Sawant assured to resolve the issue. Sawant assured that the issue would be discussed with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a meeting to be held on April 28, Dr. Neel informed.
Shiv Sena taluka chief Dilip Nirphal, Deputy District Chief Dilipsingh Rajput, Deputy Director Sachin Kakade, Dattu Hiwale, Prabhakar Mahalkar, Manoj Jaiswal, Mahendra Gande, and others were present.
