'Dumb, Insensitive': Sara Ali Khan Slammed For Posting Throwback Kashmir Photo While Condemning Pahalgam Terrorist Attack

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan condemned the ghastly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed 26 innocent lives. Almost two days after the attack, Sara took to her Instagram story to share a picture of herself from the Valley and prayed for peace and justice. However, several social media users slammed the actress for her 'tone deaf' post.

Sara wrote, "Heartbroken, shocked and horrified at this barbaric brutality."

"Our heaven on earth - a place that felt so serene, peaceful and beautiful. Praying for peace and justice," she added.

Sara's intention may have been to express grief and solidarity, but the visual choice of using her own vacation picture in Kashmir, even with a sorrowful caption, has not gone down well with a section of social media users.

Netizens slam Sara Ali Khan

Soon after the post surfaced, Reddit users criticised Sara for posting a picturesque throwback photo of herself in the wake of a tragic event. Some users said that it trivialises the seriousness of the situation, making it appear like a poorly timed "throwback" rather than a solemn tribute.

Others called Sara 'tone-deaf, self-centered, and insensitive'.

"It is tone deaf to put a picture of your vacation in the valley. One can share their thoughts and opinions without feeling the need to shove their picture in every goddamn story. Comes across as insensitive and dumb," a Reddit user commented.

Another wrote, "It’s tone deaf and lack of awareness. Posting a picture of yourself from the same place where that heinous act was committed under the garb of empathy is nothing but borderline narcissistic behaviour."

Criticising other Bollywood celebrities for their posts, a user commented, "So far I have seen only two types of posts from celebrities, some are like 'Oh ,Kashmir is soo divine, so enchanting, it didn't deserve this blood stain', others are either reminiscing their past Kashmir trips or low-key mourning their plans to visit Kashmir in the near future or both.. not a single one seems to be genuinely mourning the innocent lives lost in this attack and their families."

"Sara middle class Ali Khan, no one is interested to see your throwback vacation pics in this time of grief. If you can’t understand the gravity of the grim situation better to stay quiet," slammed another user.

On April 22, terrorists attacked and fired at tourists enjoying their time at a popular spot in Pahalgam in broad daylight. As per eye-witnesses, the terrorists asked the tourists their religion before shooting them dead.

As many as 26 people were killed, including a local horse-rider, who was shot while trying to disarm a terrorist and save the tourists.
