Impressed by her grace and presence, Dhirubhai decided that he wanted Nita to be his daughter-in-law. As soon as he reached home, Dhirubhai decided to call Nita’s house. By a twist of fate, it was Nita herself who picked up the phone. However, when Nita received the phone call and heard that it was Dhirubhai Ambani on the line, she thought someone was playing a prank on her. Thinking it to be a joke, Nita immediately hung up the phone. Dhirubhai called again, and once more, Nita cut the call.

It was only the third time, when her father answered the phone, that the confusion was cleared. That call became the first step in bringing the two families closer. During an interview, Mukesh Ambani revealed that it was his father, Dhirubhai Ambani, who first invited Nita to their home for dinner. When Nita arrived, it was Mukesh himself who opened the door, marking their very first meeting, as reported by Jansatta.

Mukesh admitted that he was instantly drawn to Nita. Meanwhile, as Nita shared in the same interview, she was immediately impressed by Mukesh’s simplicity and gentle nature. In an interview, Nita Ambani shared how Mukesh proposed to her. She said it happened at a traffic signal in Mumbai. Mukesh stopped the car at a traffic light on Pedder Road and simply asked, “Will you marry me?”

Nita Ambani also mentioned that Mukesh told her the car wouldn’t move until he got an answer. He insisted she give him a “yes” or “no” right then and there. As a result, a traffic jam started to form, with people shouting to move the car and honking horns from behind. Amid the chaos, Nita accepted Mukesh Ambani’s proposal, marking a memorable and unique moment in their love story. It is reported that Mukesh Ambani used to send roses everyday to Nita.
