10th Mitsui Shoji T20 Cricket League: Shivaji Park Warriors And Mumbai Police Register Victories
Shivaji Park Warriors beat Ghatkopar Jets by 19 runs in the10th Mitsui Shoji T20 Cricket League, organised by Jwala Sports Foundation and MCC at Police Gymkhana on Thursday. Ghatkopar Jets had also lost to Mumbai Police City Riders in the evening match on Wednesday, so Ghatkopar Jet’s are unlikely to qualify for the finals.
Shivaji Park Warriors who were asked to bat first by Ghatkopar Jets were restricted to 120/9 in 18 overs. Agni Chopra made 32 in 22 balls but they were tottering at 57/5 in 10 overs. There after Siddhant Singh (24) and Mohit Awasthi (11*) put together 31 runs for the eighth wicket.
For Ghatkopar Jets medium pacers Dhanit Raut (4/27) and Pratik Mishra (2/30) bowled superbly. But while chasing this target Ghatkopar Jets batsman did not apply themselves and were folded at 101 runs in 14.5 overs. Saurabh Singh (21) and Dhanit Raut (24) added 45 runs, highest partnership for them for 8th wicket, but that was not sufficient. Mumbai pacer Mohit Awasthi (3/27) and Aashray Sajnani (3/15) along with left arm spinner Sachin Gupta (2/25) bundled out the opponents for 101. Mohit Awasthi was adjudged the best player of the match.
Mumbai Police also had defeated Ghatkopar Jets by eight wickets. Police team restricted Ghatkopar Jets to 127/8 in 17n overs. Akash Anand (30) and Jay Jain (40) were the only scorer for Ghatkopar Jets. Left arm spinners Aryaraj Nikam (2-5 ) and Sagar Mishra (4-18) restricted the opponents. In reply Mumbai Police City Riders chased this target in 11.4 overs by losing just two wickets. Sunil Patil (30), Aryaraj Nikam (45*), Harsh Salunkhe (21) and Ruturaj Sane (25 not out) all batted aggressively. Aryaraj Nikam was chosen for man of the match award.
