From Kothrud To Hadapsar: 4.5 Lakh Punekars Hit By Sudden Power Outage Amid Scorching Heatwave
Punekars suffered a major power outage on Wednesday night due to a fault in the 400 KV Jejuri Tower Line of Mahapareshan or Mahatransco.
The power disruption occurred around 9:45 PM, affecting electricity supply to approximately 4.57 lakh consumers in several areas, including Kothrud, Hadapsar, Sahakarnagar, Padmavati, Bibwewadi, Vadgaon Dhayari, Sinhagad Road, Narhe, Yevlewadi, NIBM Road, Parvati, Peshwepark, Mandai, and Fursungi.
The outage was caused by a breakdown in the transmission lines of Mahapareshan or Mahatransco, which led to a halt in the supply of electricity to the substations of Pune city. This came at a time when the demand for power had surged due to the ongoing heatwave, putting additional stress on the city's power grid.
Power restored at 12.30 pm
Efforts were immediately launched to restore power through alternative systems, and the power was restored in all affected areas between 12:30 AM and 1 AM. The situation created significant inconvenience for residents, but restoration work was actively underway to resume normal electricity supply as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, MSEDCL's customer care numbers were unresponsive due to the large number of calls following the power cut. The heat made the situation unbearable for Punekars.
