Strange deep-sea fish found with ‘pig-tailed’ parasites attached in South Atlantic Ocean | Watch video

A recent video from the South Atlantic Ocean captured bizarre, pigtail-like parasites clinging to a deep-sea rattail fish at 1,604 feet. These Lophoura szidati copepods burrow into the fish, feeding on its fluids and tissues. The parasites' life cycle begins with larvae attaching to a host, developing into embedded adults with large egg sacs.
