Bad news for Fawad Khan, Vaani Kapoor as their film Abir Gulaal to be banned from release in India due to….

Pakistani actor Fawad Khan recently condemned the barbaric attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22. The actor has been in the news for a while now, especially for his upcoming film Abir Gulaal. As per the latest reports, Abir Gulaal will not be released in India. A close source to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India has revealed the details. Apart from Fawad Khan, the movie also stars Vaani Kapoor in the lead role.

Abir Gulaal marks Fawad Khan’s Bollywood comeback after nine years. After his serials Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Humsafar, Fawad’s popularity has grown immensely. As a result, Fawad got the opportunity to work in Bollywood films including Khoobsurat (2014), Kapoor & Sons (2016), and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).

However, a major landscape shift came in 2016 when the Uri attack took place. This created massive tension between both countries, and prominent industry bodies like the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) and the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) announced a ban on Pakistani artists from working in Indian cinema.

Though the Bombay High Court rejected a petition in 2023 seeking a formal ban, industry insiders claim that an unofficial halt on collaborations with Pakistani talent has remained in place since 2016.

Coming back to Fawad’s comeback film, sources on the matter said, “The movie Abir Gulaal, starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, will not be allowed to release in India.”

On Wednesday, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) reiterated its directive to ban Pakistani artists. They called for complete non-cooperation with all Pakistani artists, singers, and technicians within the Indian film and entertainment industry.

“In light of the recent attack in Pahalgam, FWICE is once again compelled to issue a blanket boycott on all Pakistani artists, singers, and technicians participating in any Indian film or entertainment projects. This includes performances or collaborations occurring anywhere in the world,” FWICE said in a statement.
