'You’re Sheltering And Nurturing Terrorists': Danish Kaneria Slams Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Over Silence On Pahalgam Terror Attack
Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria has launched a scathing criticism of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the wake of the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir, which left at least 26 civilians dead and many others injured. In a series of tweets not only did Danish Kaneria, condemn the attack but also took the opportunity to fiercely question his own country’s leadership.
Kaneria expressed anguish not just over the brutal killings, but also over the silence from Pakistan’s top leadership.
Kaneria’s message attracted intense backlash but, the former leg-spinner remained defiant, clarifying that his criticism was directed at the leadership, not the nation or its people.
He wrote, "I am not speaking against Pakistan or its people. The Awam of Pakistan have suffered the most at the hands of terrorism. They deserve leadership that stands for peace, not one that shelters terrorists or stays silent when innocents are murdered.
I once wore Pakistan’s jersey with pride. I gave my sweat and blood on the cricket field. But in the end, I was treated no differently than the victims of the Pahalgam attack — targeted simply for being Hindu.
Shame on those who justify terror. Shame on those who protect killers. I stand with truth. I stand with humanity. And I believe the people of Pakistan do too. Don’t mislead them. Don’t stand with evil."
India's action post Pahalgam Terror attack
The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the attack. According to reports, digital footprints of the terrorists have reportedly been traced to Muzaffarabad and Karachi. However, Pakistan denied its involvement in the attack.
