Pahalgam Terrorist Attack: 69 Tourists From Nashik Safe In Kashmir; District Admin Sets Up 24x7 Helpline
Information has been received about 61 tourists from Nashik district who went to Kashmir for tourism, and the District Disaster Management Authority has issued a helpline number. Relatives have been asked to contact the district administration.
The district administration contacted 80 travel agents from the control room. According to preliminary information, 50 tourists have gone with travel companies, while 11 tourists are believed to have gone independently. They have also contacted the district administration.
A total of 69 tourists from the district are currently in Jammu and Kashmir and all the tourists are safe. In this, a person named Lahane contacted the State Disaster Control Room and informed that his daughter and eight other people are in Srinagar. A total of three families have gone to Srinagar, consisting of a total of eight members. It is believed that there are three women, three men and two small children. All of them are in Srinagar and their flight tickets are for Saturday (26th). However, he has requested the administration to arrange tickets for his early return.
Another person named Siddhi Musale has also contacted the district administration and informed that her two brothers and sister are safe in Srinagar. She has requested to arrange tickets for return.
Another tourist is safe in a hotel in Pahalgam.
Tourists cancel Kashmir trip
Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, there is a fear that the number of tourists visiting Kashmir will decrease significantly, and this is also being seen in Nashik. Every year, about one lakh tourists from Nashik go to Kashmir, Srinagar and Amarnath. The maximum number of tourists go in the two months of May and June. This year too, those who are interested in going to Amarnath were preparing in great detail, but from today they have started changing their plans and have now shifted to Shimla-Kullu-Manali, Darjeeling, Konkan and Goa. Many tourists have started cancelling their bookings for Kashmir.
Former Travel Agents Association of Nashik (TAAN) President Datta Bhalerao said that bookings are likely to be cancelled for the next 4-5 months after the Pahalgam attack. This stance will have a major impact on the local and tourism sector, as local hotel, flight, and train bookings are being cancelled. The impact will be felt by those concerned.
