'Deep Down, You Know The Truth': Pak Bowler Questions PM Sharif's No Condemnation Of Pahalgam Attack
Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria strongly criticised Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif following the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives after gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Baisaran. Kaneria lashed out at the PM, accusing him of sheltering and nurturing terrorism.
Taking to his official social media handle of 'X', Kaneria questioned Pakistan's role in the incident, asking why the country's armed forces were placed on high alert if there was no involvement. He also expressed disappointment over Sharif’s silence, pointing out that the PM had yet to issue a condemnation of the attack.
“If Pakistan truly has no role in the Pahalgam terror attack, why hasn’t Prime Minister @CMShehbaz condemned it yet? Why are your forces suddenly on high alert? Because deep down, you know the truth — you’re sheltering and nurturing terrorists. Shame on you,” Danish Kaneria wrote on his X.
'I Was Treated No Differently Than The Victims Of The Pahalgam Attack'
In another post on X, Kaneria said he’s not speaking against Pakistan or its people, but against those who shelter terrorists and remain silent on killings. Recalling his pride in playing for Pakistan, he said he was ultimately targeted for being Hindu. He urged Pakistanis to stand for peace and truth, not with evil.
“I am not speaking against Pakistan or its people. The Awam of Pakistan have suffered the most at the hands of terrorism. They deserve leadership that stands for peace, not one that shelters terrorists or stays silent when innocents are murdered. I once wore Pakistan’s jersey with pride. I gave my sweat and blood on the cricket field. But in the end, I was treated no differently than the victims of the Pahalgam attack — targeted simply for being Hindu,” Kaneria wrote in another post on X.
“Shame on those who justify terror. Shame on those who protect killers. I stand with truth. I stand with humanity. And I believe the people of Pakistan do too. Don’t mislead them. Don’t stand with evil.”
Danish Kaneria, a Hindu Pakistani cricketer, has often made headlines for his outspoken statements, particularly targeting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He has repeatedly alleged that despite performing exceptionally well during his career, he was sidelined and denied further opportunities to represent Pakistan due to religious discrimination.
Despite being sidelined and facing issues with the PCB, Kaneria had an impressive career in Test cricket for Pakistan. He featured in 61 Test matches and claimed 261 wickets, including 15 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket match hauls. In the limited opportunities he got in One Day Internationals (ODIs), he played 18 matches and took 15 wickets at an economy rate of 4.8.
Kaneria represented Pakistan for a decade from 2000 to 2010. However, his career took a dark turn when he was alleged to be involved in spot-fixing during a county match in England. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) found him guilty in 2012 and imposed a lifetime ban. Kaneria later filed an appeal against the decision, but it was rejected in 2013.
