It requires dedication, persistence, and discipline. In the constant pressure to fit into shrinking beauty standards, most celebrities go with this quick solution; however, real, sustainable solutions rarely look like what social media portrays.
True wellness isn’t about depriving yourself of nourishment, but it is more about switching to healthier and sustainable lifestyle choices. One such actress who has embodied better than the rest is Kareena Kapoor Khan. Instead of starving or being deprived of nourishment, Kareena honored the needs of her body and worked on it, not against it.
Bebo’s transformation journey in 2018 during Tashan didn’t begin in the gym or at the film set, but it started with self-awareness and balance. In 2018, Kareena revealed, “Meals are as basic as doodhi sabzi, karela subzi, one roti, and a bowl of rice. Dinner can be different versions of soups.” Kareena opted for a simple meal plan that had fewer restrictions. Even today, her comfort food is as basic as Khichdi or lentil rice.
Kareena has always been upfront about her love for food and how she refrains from starving herself “I’d love to make this fact clear: I lost weight the right way. I’m a Kapoor with a Punjabi build. I can’t live starving myself, without wholesome food, and would not have been able to conceive had I not eaten the way I did.” She added, “Rujuta always had things sorted out for me, balancing the right amount of fat in my diet. I trusted her blindly, even when I was told to consume parathas with ghee.”
Kareena’s transformation during Tashan was highly talked about. Shedding 20 kilos. She credited this transformation to her dietician Rujuta Diwekar, saying, “I blindly followed Diwekar’s diet plan.” Refuting media rumours about surviving on oranges, she made it clear, “Diwekar was strongly against starvation and told her to not skip meals but watch portions.”
Kareena credits her nutritionist for her healthier self, diligently following their advice. Sharing her nutritionist’s remedies, she says, “Sometimes, I call her and tell her if I feel acidic after a string of late-night commitments or when travelling. Instead of prescribing medication, she’ll recommend I have a glass of chilled milk with gulkand in it. On other occasions, she’ll ask me to have water with kesar to flush out toxins. Her methods work well for me.”
Kareena’s fitness also incorporates physical movement besides her healthy diet. She is a big fan of Pilates and firmly believes in not spending more than 55 minutes in the gym. She shares, “We started our journey with me executing a mere eight repetitions in each exercise because I had a weak back post-delivery. Today, Namrata and I trained together and executed a high-intensity class that involved 20–30 reps, one after another.”
Kareena Kapoor has never shied away from promoting body positivity. Being one of the few actresses who even walked on the runway embracing her baby bump, Kareena Kapoor has always celebrated the changing body of women in different phases of life. She says. “I was bearing a child. It was obvious that I would put on weight. But I wasn’t [rattled]. I enjoyed my pregnancy. I loved it. Losing the weight after that was another journey… I’m comfortable in any shape and size.”
