State’s Super 100 delivers 90% success in JEE Main exam

In a remarkable achievement, 200 out of 223 students enrolled in the Haryana Government’s Super 100 programme have qualified for the JEE Advanced exam, marking a 90 per cent success rate. JEE Advanced is the gateway to undergraduate engineering programmes at the IITs and other elite engineering institutions. It follows the JEE Main, which serves as the preliminary qualifying round.

This year, 14 students from the programme scored above the 99 percentile, while 28 surpassed the 98 percentile mark. A total of 125 students scored above 90 percentile, underscoring the effectiveness of the initiative.

Ritika, from Jind and a student of Government Girls High School, Hatt, topped the list with a 99.94 percentile score. Aditya from Bhiwani, a student of GSSS, Kharak Kalan, followed with 99.91 percentile, and Ravinder of GSS Gurana, Hisar, scored 99.87 percentile.

Muskan from Bhiwani and a student of Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GGSSS), Dinod Bhiwani, scored 99.84 percentile. Tanish from Faridabad and a student of GSSS, Jharsaintly, has got 99.81 percentile.

Most of the high achievers come from disadvantaged backgrounds, with many general category students belonging to the EWS.

Launched in 2018, the Super 100 programme initially provided free coaching to 100 meritorious students from medical and non-medical streams studying in Haryana Government schools. Coaching centres were set up in Rewari and Panchkula.

Encouraged by its early success, the government gradually expanded the initiative to include more students over the years. “Free coaching for deserving and talented students in government schools forms the cornerstone of this expansion, offering a lifeline to those who might otherwise lack access to quality education,” said Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Pankaj Agarwal.

“In 2022, we had launched a Buniyaad programme for targeting students from Class 9th onwards, as we discovered the base of some students is weak when we take them in Class 11th. As of now, 103 online coaching centres of Buniyaad are working. But now we may start offline coaching in at least four places to see the overall impact. The results are set to improve further,” said Director Secondary Education Jitender Kumar Dahiya.
