Heatwave Red Alert In Telangana As State Records Season's Hottest Day
Telangana is currently battling intense heatwave conditions after Kondur in Nizamabad recorded the season's highest temperature in the state of 45.3 degree Celsius. Several northern regions such as Nizamabad, Adilabad, Nirmal, and Mancherial also experienced the brunt of the soaring temperatures.
Apart from Nizamabad, additionally, at least five other districts also saw temperatures climbing past the 44°C mark.
In response to the sweltering conditions, the Meteorological Department has placed multiple districts under a red alert for the next four days, as per a report on All India Radio. Authorities have also warned of abnormally warm nights with elevated minimum temperatures posing a serious health risk.
The Indian Meteorological Department’s Hyderabad center has advised residents, especially those in sensitive age groups, to take extra precautions as the risk of heat-related illnesses and heat strokes remains alarmingly high.
Heatwave Precautions
As temperatures continue to soar across Telangana, health officials are urging residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the ongoing heatwave. Authorities advise the public to remain indoors during peak afternoon hours, particularly between 12 PM and 4 PM, when the sun’s intensity is at its highest.
Staying hydrated is key. Increasing water intake, even in the absence of thirst is recommended. For those who must venture outdoors, covering up with umbrellas, scarves, or wide-brimmed hats is strongly advised to minimize exposure to direct sunlight.
Residents are also encouraged to wear loose-fitting, light-colored cotton clothing to help regulate body temperature, as darker and tighter garments can trap heat. To beat the rising temperatures at home, people are advised to keep curtains drawn, use fans or air conditioning where available, and take cool showers to lower body heat.
