Vaani Kapoor’s statement comes as her upcoming film ‘Abir Gulaal’ faces increasing backlash. The recent terror attack in Pahalgam has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for a boycott of the film. Critics on social media are voicing their disapproval of Indian actors working with Pakistani talent, especially during such sensitive times. Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, ‘Abir Gulaal’ is set to hit theatres on May 9.

Boycott Calls Against Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal

As tensions continue to rise, Ashoke Pandit, President of the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association, has strongly opposed the release of the film. He said, “This incident is an act of war against the nation. This isn’t the first time...these attacks have been ongoing for 30 years. We, as a federation, have requested with folded hands to not work Pakistanis. They come up with bulls*t reasons like artist, community, but ultimately, the nation must come first. People think ‘agar mere ghar ka aadmi nahi mara toh fk it, I don’t care’, but if this film’s heroine or makers’ family members had been shot by the terrorist, they wouldn’t have worked (with Fawad).”

Originally scheduled for a global release on May 9, 'Abir Gulaal' features Fawad Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Soni Razdan, and Ridhi Dogra in key roles. However, it is important to note that the film’s release has now been halted in India.

On Tuesday, gunmen attacked tourists in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, one of the worst in recent history, occurred around 2:30 PM and claimed the lives of at least 26 people, including two foreigners.
