UPSC exam: 4 achievers inspire Sirsa, Fatehabad youth
Four young talents from Sirsa and Fatehabad districts have cracked the UPSC civil services examination, each overcoming personal hardships and limited resources to achieve their dream of becoming top government officers.
City Magistrate’s 5th attempt
Yash Malik, currently posted as City Magistrate in Sirsa, secured the 369th rank in his fifth attempt.
A native of Issapur Kheri in Sonepat, Malik is an engineering graduate from NIT, Kurukshetra. Despite initial setbacks and struggles with distractions like social media, he stayed focused through a disciplined routine.
He balanced his government job with 6-7 hours of daily study, and attributes his success to his family’s unwavering support.
“I never gave up on my dream, and, with the support of my parents, I have finally achieved this,” he said.
Grandfather’s dream comes true
From Banwala village in Dabwali sub-division, Jogender Sihag, the son of a farmer, achieved the 521st rank in the exam.
His path is especially emotional. Last year, he lost his grandfather and his younger brother during exam season, which deeply affected his performance.
This year, driven by the dream his grandfather had for him to become an IPS officer, he returned stronger.
“It feels like I have fulfilled my grandfather’s dream. I dedicate the success to him,” said Jogender, reflecting on the bittersweet nature of his triumph.
With disciplined overnight study sessions, minimal use of social media, and support from his friend Hemant Parik, an IAS officer, Jogender’s victory is testament to resilience and emotional strength.
Family encouragement bears fruit
In Fatehabad, Ajay Kolia, a 24-year-old Gram Sachiv from Dhani Gopal village, brought pride to his family and village by securing the 895th rank. Coming from a modest background, Ajay’s journey started at his maternal grandparents’ home in Hebatpur.
With free coaching support and constant encouragement from his extended family and school mentors, Ajay achieved the milestone in his
third attempt.
“I want to serve the people, and contribute to my community,” Ajay said, emphasising his commitment to his roots.
He is now an inspiration for the rural youth of the state, proving that even for people of small villages, big dreams can come true.
1st Tohana girl to crack exam
Vijaylakshmi’s is another historic achievement. Hailing from Tharwa village in Fatehabad, she secured the 233rd rank, and became the first girl from the Tohana region to crack the UPSC exam.
Her success is being celebrated across the region. Her father works as a farmer and mother a homemaker.
Vijaylakshmi’s journey is a beacon of hope for rural girls. “This is for every girl who dares to dream. I hope my success encourages others to follow their dreams,” she said after her triumph, expressing her desire to inspire young girls. Her success is not just a personal triumph but a cultural shift, breaking gender stereotypes.
These four stories, rooted in Haryana’s soil and spirit, highlight how determination, discipline and family support can help overcome any hurdle.
They now stand as role models for thousands of youngsters dreaming of clearing civil service exams, proving that no dream is too distant when chased with dedication and hard work.
