Chandigarh Congress holds candlelight march

The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee today organised a candlelight procession in the Sector 17 Plaza to mourn and protest the recent brutal killing of innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Led by city Congress president HS Lucky, the participants, including party workers, citizens, young volunteers and civil society members, lit candles. They held placards calling for justice and peace, and observed a moment of silence to pay their respects to the victims.

Lucky said, “The attack is a heinous and inhuman act that shakes the conscience of every Indian. Such acts of terror aim to spread fear and divide our society, but we must respond with solidarity, compassion, and unwavering resolve. The city Congress stands with the victims’ families in their hour of grief.”

Traders condemn killing

Members of the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) condemned the horrific killing of innocent people in Kashmir by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists. During a meeting today, a two-minute silence was observed to pay respects to the victims. CBM president Sanjeev Chadha said candlelight marches would be held in various markets tomorrow at 6:30 pm.

Forum flays terror strike

The Interfaith Forum here condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday, killing at least 25 tourists. “This act of violence, targeting innocent civilians in a region known for its natural beauty and cultural harmony, is an attack on the humanity itself,” said forum president Anil Sarwal.

Players pay respects

As a mark of respect to the Pahalgam terror attack victims, teams participating in the ongoing Gully Cricket Tournament observed a one-minute silence before the commencement of matches across various venues in the city. Expressing solidarity with the victims’ families, the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) has decided to conduct the remainder of the tournament in a solemn manner. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families in this time of grief,” said Sanjay Tandon, president, UTCA.
