IPL 2025: SRH and MI players observe one-minute silence to pay tribute to Pahalgam terror attack victims, WATCH
New Delhi: In a touching scene, the players and match officials of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians stood quietly for a minute before their IPL match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 23, 2025. This moment of silence was held to remember the lives lost in the Pahalgam terror attack, a heartbreaking event that claimed many innocent people.
Just before the 7:30 pm match began, everyone at the ground paused to reflect on the tragedy. This respectful gesture by the cricket teams, officials, and supporters showed that compassion and unity matter even more than the game during times of sorrow.
Cricketers from both sides wore black bands on their arms as a sign of honor for those who were hurt or killed. This small but meaningful gesture expressed their sympathy and support for the affected families, as well as their sadness over the loss of innocent lives.

Wearing black armbands served as a strong reminder of how terrorism deeply affects innocent lives. As the IPL unites people through the love of cricket, such moments emphasize the value of compassion, respect, and togetherness in difficult times.
The heartbreaking incident in Pahalgam involved suspected terrorists from The Resistance Front, a group associated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). These terrorists opened fire on innocent tourists who were enjoying their visit to the area. Unfortunately, this attack is being called the most devastating terrorist assault on India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, evoking painful memories of the Pulwama attacks in 2019.
During the toss of the SRH vs MI match at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, both captains, Pat Cummins and Hardik Pandya, conveyed their heartfelt sympathies for the victims and extended their full support to the grieving families affected by this senseless violence.
“I would like to firstly pass my condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack. We as a team and a franchise condemn any such attacks,” Hardik Pandya said. “It has been heartbreaking for us as well. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families,” Cummins said.
