Ambedkar’s Resignation Letter Copy Stolen From Rashtrapati Bhawan: Meghwal

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Union Law Minister Arjun Meghwal has said when Baba Ambedkar resigned from the Jawaharlal Nehru cabinet he also mentioned the reasons for it.

The copy of Ambedkar’s resignation letter was taken out of Rashtrapati Bhawan, he said. Meghwal made the remark at a conference on Ambedkar in Bhopal on Wednesday.

Meghwal took the Congress to task over Ambedkar, saying that the letter is available on social media. According to Meghwal, in the letter Ambedkar told Nehru that his behaviour with SC/ST was not correct.

Ambedkar also told Nehru that he was worried about the attacks against Muslims, but he did not bother about what was happening to the Dalits and tribal people, Meghwal said.

According to the union minister, Ambedkar told Nehru that his foreign policy was also not correct.

Ambedkar wrote that Nehru had promised to set up an OBC commission, but he reneged on his promise, and withdrew the Hindu Code Bill, Meghwal said.

The union minister further said Baba Sahib used to participate in the Sakhas organised by the Sangh.

Once, Ambedkar also delivered a lecture in place of Hegdewar.

Baba Sahib publicly said he felt close to the Sakhas of the Sangh, Meghwal said.

Baba Saheb was honoured with Bharat Ratna when the BJP was giving support to VP Singh from outside the government.

It was Ambedkar who gave suggestions for setting up the Reserve Bank of India, the Finance Commission, and the Planning Commission, the minister said.

In the Lok Sabha election of 1952, the Congress conspired to ensure the defeat of Ambedkar.

According to Meghwal, in the election, Ambedkar was defeated by a margin of 10,000 votes, whereas 74,000 votes were cancelled.

When Winston Churchill formed the interim government in India, he proposed the names of 14 ministers, but Nehru did not send the name of Ambedkar.
