Pahalgam terror attack: Dombivali natives among six tourists from Maharashtra killed

Six tourists from Maharashtra lost lives in the terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Kashmir. Three among them were native to Dombivali, a suburb in Mumbai's neighbouring Thane district. They were identified as Sanjay Lele, Hemant Joshi and Atul Mone.
According to a Facebook post by Sanjay's cousin Kaushik, the family was informed about the terrorist attack by his mother. "Sanjay has been hit by a bullet," she told Kaushik as per the FB post. Kaushik added that as the news started trickling in he came to know that his cousin Sanjay, and friends Hemant and Atul had lost lives in the terror attack.

Their bodies will be kept at Bhag Shala ground where residents of Dombivali can pay their tributes before being taken for cremation. A Marathi newspaper has quoted a neighbour of Sanjay Lele as stating that the late man had grown up in the society where they lived.
The government has announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh for the deceased. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son Dr Shrikant Shinde is personally looking into the arrangements and is in touch with relatives of the deceased as Dombivali is part of his parliamentary constituency.

The Jain family from Buldana district had reached Pahalgam on April 21 and their plan for April 22 was to go for sightseeing in and around the region. The five members of the family, however, were saved as their hotel owner informed them about the attack and did not allow them to venture out.
It is learnt that there more than 50 tourists from Maharashtra who are stuck in Kashmir and army has given them protection.
