Meet Sarvesh Mehtani, IIT-JEE topper with 339 marks, went to IIT Bombay, he is now…
Cracking the IIT JEE is no small feat. Known as one of the toughest entrance exams in the world, it demands not only intelligence but relentless determination. Each year, lakhs of students across India dream of making it to an IIT. Among them, only a few rise to the very top. In 2017, that name was Sarvesh Mehtani. Hailing from Panchkula near Chandigarh, Sarvesh achieved the impossible, he topped the JEE Advanced exam with an impressive 339 marks out of 366. But success didn’t happen overnight. Behind the scenes was a young boy with a clear goal, steady discipline, and a love for learning.
Sarvesh studied at the prestigious IIT Bombay, where he pursued a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Today, he works as a Quantitative Trader, developing high-frequency strategies for trading financial derivatives.
His journey, however, started at home. His father, Parvesh, an officer in the Income Tax Department, shared that Sarvesh always aimed high his goal was never just to clear the exam but to be among the top 10. His mother, Raj Bala, who works with Haryana’s Industrial Training Department, described her son as someone who never looked at studies as pressure. Instead, Sarvesh treated studying like a daily habit revising what he learned in school before going to bed.
He wasn’t all work and no play. To unwind, Sarvesh enjoyed playing badminton, watching cartoons, and listening to music. Even during peak study months, he found time to relax, which helped him stay focused without burning out.
In school, Sarvesh had always been a bright student. He scored a CGPA of 10 in Class 10 and secured 95.4 per cent in Class 12. During JEE preparation, he followed a strict routine—studying 5 to 6 hours daily and extending it to 8 to 10 hours on holidays.
From being a school topper to becoming a national rank 1 holder, and now excelling in the finance world, Sarvesh Mehtani’s story is a powerful example of what dedication, clarity of purpose, and consistency can achieve.
