Pahalgam terror attack: Rajnath Singh meets chiefs of armed forces, NSA; reviews security situation in J&K

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Wednesday, met with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Upendra Dwivedi, Indian Air Force Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Indian Navy Chief Dinesh Tripathi and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead.
Singh reportedly directed the armed forces to enhance their combat readiness and increase the intensity of anti-terror operations. According to news agency ANI, the meeting discussed all issues related to the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting lasted for more than two hours.

According to sources, the terror attack will be discussed in further detail in the Cabinet Committee on Security meeting likely to be held later today.
ANI reported that officers have been rushed to the affected areas in J&K and local formations have been asked to be on alert and further intensify the counter-terrorist operations.
Defence sources said more troops have been deployed in the areas near where the attack took place to carry out search and destroy operations.
Terrorists struck at a tourist location in Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people, mostly tourists, and injuring several others.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned that the perpetrators of the attack will not be spared and their evil agenda will never succeed.
Modi cut short his trip to Saudi Arabia to return on Wednesday morning, while Home Minister Amit Shah reached Srinagar on Tuesday evening to spearhead the security measures.
