Charge for 5 minutes travel for 520 KM! company surpasses China’s…, makes world’s fastest car charger, competes with Elon Musk’s…

CATL is the world’s largest EV battery supplier, and has launched an innovative EV battery technology. The company introduced its revolutionary battery which has made a new world record of fastest charging. If this claim comes true, CATL will surpass BYD, which was known for its advanced fast-charging technology.

Charging In 5-Minute

In a statement shared on WeChat, CATL announced that within five minutes of charging Shenxing battery can give 520 kilometers (323 miles) of driving range. This is higher than the refueling of a gasoline car. CATL will also beat its rival BYD in fast-charging system, which reportedly provides around 400 kilometers of range in five minutes.

Compete With Tesla And Mercedes-Benz

CATL’s achievement will add to its competitors in charging speed. Tesla’s latest Supercharger gives 270 kilometers of range in 15 minutes, while Mercedes-Benz’s battery can recharge up to 325 kilometers in 10 minutes. About BYD’s claims, some of the reports are still skeptical about it. However, if CATL’s can give this speed as claimed, it will help consumers regarding EV range and convenience.

Sodium-Ion Battery Revolution

CATL has also introduced the Shenxing battery which delivers an 800-kilometer range and a charging power of 1.3 megawatts. This battery performs exceptionally well even in heavy temperatures, also maintains efficiency at -10°C and outperforms.

CATL also launched the world’s first mass-produced sodium-ion battery under its ‘Nextra’ series. This is to reduce the EV industry’s dependency on lithium and provide a more cost-effective alternative. Sodium-ion batteries can operate at different temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C work in diverse environments.

IPO Plans

CATL has applied for a public listing in Hong Kong earlier this year, with a plan to raise at least $5 billion, according to a Reuters report. If successful, this may become Hong Kong’s largest IPO since early 2021.
