Pahalgam Terror Attack: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Announces ₹5 Lakh Relief For Victims
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced Rs 5 lakh to each family of the victims who lost their lives in the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. The attack claimed the lives of six tourists, all residents of Maharashtra, some from Pune and others from Mumbai.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, CM Fadnavis said, "A total of 6 people from Maharashtra lost their lives in the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam."
The Chief Minister also shared the details of the transportation of the mortal remains. Sanjay Lele and Dilip Desale’s bodies are being flown to Mumbai on an Air India flight scheduled to depart Srinagar at 12:15 PM. Hemant Joshi and Atul Mone will also be brought to Mumbai, with their flight departing Srinagar at 1:15 PM. Pune residents Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale will be flown to Pune on a separate flight leaving Srinagar at 6:00 PM.
To coordinate the arrangements, Minister's Adv. Ashish Shelar and Mangalprabhat Lodha will be present at the Mumbai airport, while Minister Madhuri Misal has been assigned responsibilities at the Pune airport. Minister Girish Mahajan is on his way to Srinagar to oversee the situation and assist the remaining stranded tourists from Maharashtra.
The state government is working closely with the Jammu and Kashmir administration and the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure the safe return of other stranded tourists and to extend all necessary support to the victims’ families.
PM Modi On Pahalgam Terror Attack
In response to the horrific incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia, strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous act” and reaffirmed his resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice. He instructed Home Minister Amit Shah to personally assess the situation.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched an extensive search operation in the valley to track down those responsible. Survivors and the victims’ families are struggling to cope with the emotional fallout, many haunted by the trauma of the attack and the reality that they narrowly survived.
