'Treachery, Heinous': Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra & Others Condemn Pahalgam Terror Attack, Extend Condolences
Several Bollywood celebs condemned the brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives. Shah Rukh Khan, Javed Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, and others expressed their anguish and prayed for the deceased and the ones mourning, while also demanding stern action against the perpetrators.
Shah Rukh took to his X handle and the called the attack "treachery" and an "inhumane act of violence". "Words fail to express the sadness and anger at the treachery and inhumane act of violence that has occurred in Pahalgam. In times like these, one can only turn to God and say a prayer for the families that suffered and express my deepest condolences (sic)," he wrote.
"May we as a nation, stand united, strong and get justice against this heinous act (sic)," he added.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas expressed her grief and mentioned how the attack will haunt not just the victims but the entire country for a very long time. "What happened in Pahalgam is reprehensible. People were there on vacations, honeymoons, celebrating with their families. Just taking in the beauty of Kashmir. So many innocent lives were caught in a storm they never asked for. Targeted, right in front of their loved ones (sic), she rued.
She further continued, "This is not a tragedy we can move past from. This heinous attack should shake the conscience of humanity. This will haunt us for a long time. To those grieving, displaced, mourning, and living in fear, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm so deeply anguished by this (sic)."
Labelling the terrorists as "mass murderers", veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar tweeted, "Come what may, what ever the cost, what ever the repercussions, the terrorists of Pelham can not be allowed to get away. These mass murderers have to pay with their lives for their inhuman deeds (sic)."
For those unversed, armed terrorists infiltrated a popular tourist spot in south Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday and fired indiscriminately at the tourists, killing at least 26 in the ghastly attack. Several celebs including Hina Khan, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon and others condemned the incident and urged the Indian government to give a befitting reply.
