Akal Takht officiating Jathedar likens Pahalgam attack to Chittisinghpura Sikh massacre; seeks justice

The officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, has condemned the attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Expressing grief over the incident, he extended condolences to the families of those killed. He offered prayers before the Akal Purakh seeking eternal peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to accept His will.

He also prayed that such inhumane acts should never occur anywhere in the world and that peace and harmony should prevail across the nation and the world.

Jathedar Gargaj stated that the Pahalgam tragedy deeply pained him and reminded him of the March 2000 massacre in Chittisinghpura, Kashmir, in which 35 Sikhs were killed butthe truth was “yet to come to light”.

He emphasised the need for justice in the Pahalgam incident and urged the authorities to uncover the truth behind the Chittisinghpura massacre also, so that the affected families could finally receive justice.

Echoing identical views, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that this inhuman and brutal act had deeply hurt the values of society.

He said spiritual and humanitarian teachings did not promote such violence, but rather guided everyone towards unity, brotherhood and harmony.

While expressing his solidarity with the victim families, the SGPC president offered prayers to the Karta Purakh, seeking peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear the tragic loss.
