Bhopal Stubble Burning: Collector Orders Action Against 4 Farmers; Fines Imposed, FIR Registered
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The district administration on Tuesday took action against four farmers for stubble burning, imposing fines and registering an FIR against one of them.
The official X handle of Bhopal Collector shared the orders and informed, “As per the orders of Bhopal Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh, a fine of ₹15,000 was imposed on Geeta Prasad, son of Kishanlal, and ₹2,500 on Gabbar Singh, son of Naval Singh Thakur, in the village Parvaliya Sunny under Huzur tehsil.”
Acting on the orders of Geeta Prasad was fined ₹15,000. Similarly, Gabbar Singh was fined ₹2,500 for the same offence.
Rajesh, son of Dhan Singh Meena from the village of Parewa Kheda, was also fined ₹15,000. Another farmer, Horilal, son of Mitthu Lal and a resident of Bhopal, was fined ₹5,000, and an FIR has been registered in his case.
The farmers were penalized for violating environmental regulations and contributing to air pollution.
Similar incident in Indore
On April 17, Indore Collector Asheesh Singh took strict action against those who burn crop residue (stubble) in the district. FIR was registered against three farmers in Hatod, Juni Indore and Bicholi Hapsi areas and fines worth Rs 3.09 lakh were imposed on 102 farmers.
Under a campaign, fines worth Rs 16.17 lakh have been imposed on 770 farmers so far for burning stubble.
