Ujjain Farmers To Submit Memorandum To Lord Mahakal Against Land Pooling Scheme; Police Halt Protocol Darshan
Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Ujjain police and district administration stopped protocol darshan of Mahakaleshwar temple on Wednesday till 12 noon in the wake of farmers' agitation.
Notably, the farmers are raising objections after the administration decided to acquire their 2000 hectares of land as part of the land pooling scheme. This pooled land is developed, and only a part of it is returned to the owners, while the remaining major part is used for the road and infrastructure development works.
Farmers to present memorandum to Lord Mahakal
The devotees were given entry into the temple through one gate only. All the roads leading towards Mahakaleshwar Temple were restricted for vehicular movement.
The affected farmers of Simhastha camp sides, whose approximately 2000 hectares of land are being acquired under the land pooling scheme, have decided to present a memorandum to the Mahakaleshwar jyotirlingam, praying the lord to 'give good sense' to the rulers.
A heavy police force was deployed near the temple premises. Ujjain's new collector, Roshan Kumar Singh, on Tuesday, issued prohibitory orders to ban any rally or demonstration. They cited the reason of the ongoing Panchkroshi Yatra. Congress MLA Mahesh Parmar, City Congress Committee president Mukesh Bhati, and leader of the opposition in Ujjain Municipal Corporation Ravi Rai were present with the demonstrators.
