Obtaining revenue documents will soon be just a click away as the Revenue Department is set to roll out a digital platform aimed at delivery of citizen-centric services.
Officials in the department said soft trial was being carried out and around 20,000 documents had been issued. Formal rollout of online services would be done in the coming days, said the official.
The department would allow citizens to submit requests for change of ownership mutations online at www.jamabandi.punjab.gov.in
Under this initiative, land owners across 13,000 villages of Punjab would be able to get a digitally signed copy of revenue documents like land record (fard), land ownership (jamabandi), apply for change of ownership (mutation) on the basis of registered deed or inheritance and correction of land records while sitting at their home.
The move would reduce involvement of lower staff and end harassment faced by documents seekers at public offices.
By paying a nominal fee, the applicant could get a digitally verified copy of land record within a minute of uploading necessary details.
A bar code on the digitally signed document would also help the buyers of any land or financial institutions to verify and authenticate the ownership of the land.
Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner Revenue Anurag Verma said earlier process of obtaining mutations often required individuals to navigate through multiple layers of bureaucracy, including patwaris, Kanungos and tehsildars.
Besides, the department had fixed stipulated time for attestation of uncontested mutations from 45 days to 30 days, which would be applicable from May 1.
The Deputy Commissioners would now monitor the pendency of overdue cases on a daily basis, said Verma, adding that the deadline for income certificate and inspection of revenue record had been fixed at 15 days and seven days, respectively.
