Science City celebrates Earth Day

Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated World Earth Day with enthusiasm.

The event brought together over 150 students and teachers from schools across Punjab. To make the celebration engaging and interactive, Science City organised exciting competitions like painting and best-out-of-waste. These activities encouraged students to express their thoughts on environmental conservation through creativity and innovation using recycled materials.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rajesh Grover, Director, PGSC, highlighted the urgent environmental challenges the world is facing today. He said that every year, Earth Day brings together a billion people worldwide with a common goal, which is to protect our planet. It’s a reminder that we must take action and move toward clean, renewable sources of energy. Even small steps by individuals can lead to meaningful change,” he added.

Dr Vandit Vijay, Scientist-C at Sardar Swarn Singh National Institute of Bio-Energy, Kapurthala, was the expert speaker for the event. In his address, he explained how clean energy plays a key role in tackling climate change and building a greener future. He emphasised that switching to energy sources like solar, wind and bio-energy is no longer just a smart option, it’s something we must do to save our planet.
