‘Proactive Her’ campaign to detect, prevent cancer
Women’s health plays a pivotal role in shaping the well-being of families and communities. However, cancers such as breast and cervical cancer continue to pose a major threat to women across the country.
In response to this ongoing concern, Cancer Centres of America (CCA), Ludhiana, has launched ‘Proactive Her’, a free cancer screening initiative dedicated to promoting early detection and preventive care for women.
The CCA is a leading chain of integrated oncology hospitals, dedicated to delivering world-class and affordable cancer care.
Dr Abhinav Singh, Medical Superintendent at the CCA, told The Tribune, “Our Cancer Caravan mobile vans with portable mammogram will increase the reach of these screening camps across Ludhiana and also adjoining districts, including Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Moga, Jalandhar and Sangrur. By launching ‘Proactive Her’, the Ludhiana centre reinforces its commitment to community health, ensuring that no woman is left behind in the fight against cancer,” he said.
With cancer cases steadily rising, the importance of routine screening cannot be overstated. Detecting cancer in its early stages significantly increases the chances of effective treatment and long-term survival. The ‘Proactive Her’ campaign aims to empower women by providing them with access to timely and essential screenings completely free of cost. The launch event held recently marked a significant step forward in advancing women’s healthcare awareness and encouraging preventive action in the region.
The free cancer screening package under this initiative includes mammograms for early detection of breast cancer, PAP smears to screen for cervical cancer and Easy-Check, an advanced non-invasive blood test that screens for 30 types of cancers.
The screening is open to women from Ludhiana and surrounding areas and will be available until June 30 this year. A total of 5000 women will be collectively screened at Ludhiana, Nasik and Amritsar under this initiative.
The CCA is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and is committed to global standards of treatment through its International Tumor Board, where experts from the USA collaborate with Indian oncologists. This initiative is a step towards empowering women to prioritise their health through early cancer screening to spread awareness and save lives, said Dr Abhinav Singh.
