Govt keeping close watch on drug peddlers: Ex-minister

Former Minister of State Subhash Sudha flagged off the Cyclothon 2.0, a state-wide campaign being run to make build a drug-free Haryana, and said a collective effort was required to make a drug-free society.

The cyclothon, spreading awareness about the ill-effects of drug abuse and encouraging citizens to join the fight against addiction, reached Kurukshetra on Monday and was flagged off for Kaithal on Tuesday.

Addressing a gathering at Pindarsi village, after flagging off the cyclothon, Subhash Sudha said, “The government is keeping an eye on the people involved in drug business in every district and the drug smugglers will now have to leave the state. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is taking feedback of people involved in drug business from every district and Haryana will soon become a drug-free state. Every person should come forward without fear and lodge a complaint with the police if they come to know about the people involved in drug smuggling.”

The former minister said, “Drug addiction has become a serious problem for the state. The future of the youth is being affected due to drug addiction. We all should take steps towards a drug-free society. If someone around us is struggling with drug addiction, then we should not ignore him, but help him to get on the right path. Cyclothon 2.0 Yatra was flagged off by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from Hisar on April 5, to give the message of drug-free Haryana to the people by passing through villages and cities in every district of the state.”

During the Cyclothon 2.0 Yatra, the former Minister of State administered the oath to the youth and motivated them to alert the police if they found people doing drugs.

BJP district Chief Tajender Singh Goldy, ASP Manpreet Singh, SDM Thanesar Aman Kumar, District Sports Officer Manoj Kumar and several officials were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the Health Department organised a health check-up camp at the Government Secondary School in Pindarsi village for the police personnel, players and he youth involved in the cyclothon. Ambulances have also been included in the cyclothon journey. The doctors gave detailed information to the villagers about how to avoid heat.
