Senior citizens to get health cards at Thyagaraj Stadium on April 28

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting at the Delhi Secretariat to review the implementation of the ‘Vaya Vandana Yojana’ and the establishment of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the national capital. The CM announced that the distribution of health cards for senior citizens aged 70 and above would begin on April 28 at Thyagaraj Stadium.

Calling the initiative a tribute to the elderly, CM Gupta said, “The Vaya Vandana Yojana is a symbol of respect and gratitude towards our senior citizens. This age group deserves priority access to quality healthcare, and the government will ensure that socio-economic status does not become a barrier.”

The meeting was attended by Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, Law Minister Kapil Mishra, senior officials from the Health Department, MCD Commissioner and the DDA Vice-Chairman.

Under the ‘Vaya Vandana Yojana’, each registered citizen aged 70 plus will receive a unique health card that will guarantee access to essential medical services on a priority basis. Registration and distribution of cards will begin on April 28 at district offices and locations identified by public representatives.

The CM also directed officials to expedite the establishment of 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across Delhi, with about 15 centres planned in each Assembly constituency. These centres will provide general health consultations, primary care, preventive medicine and awareness services.

“All District Magistrates have been instructed to identify and inspect potential sites for these health centres and submit the list to the Health Department by tomorrow,” CM Gupta said.

As of now, over 1.69 lakh Ayushman cards have already been generated for eligible beneficiaries, and distribution will soon commence. Public representatives have been urged to support the process to ensure timely access for all.
