Women Take The Lead As 32 Jamia Millia Islamia's RCA Students Clear UPSC 2024

Delhi: Thirty-two aspiring officers trained at Jamia Millia Islamia's Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) have cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. This success is among a total of 78 RCA candidates who had been scheduled to face the interview round. Of the 32 that have been selected, 12 are women, a strong indicator of the success of women.

Alfred Thomas came out top RCA scorer this year with an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 33. He is followed by Iram Choudhary with AIR 40 and Ruchika Jha at AIR 51. Their achievement has brought pride to the institution, with Jamia Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi extending their warm congratulations to all the successful candidates.

Some of these 32 will be entering into services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), and others will be posted in other Group-A services such as the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), and Indian Audit and Accounts Service, depending on their ranks and options.

Prof. Asif identified the significance of this achievement, especially the performance of the women candidates, and referred to them as role models for other Jamia students. He praised their hard work and determination, recognising the positive impact of such an achievement on the student body overall.

Prof. Samina Bano, head of RCA, was the behind-the-scenes agent of this success through individual guidance and personal engagement with every student. The efforts of all the candidates, even the marginally shortlisted ones, were recognized by the university administration, and they were assured of continued facilitation to enable them to succeed in upcoming exams.
