Rohit Shetty breaks silence on alleged fallout with Shah Rukh Khan after 10 years: ‘Humne decide kiya…’

Bollywood superstars Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan collaborated on Chennai Express and Dilwale. However, after the release of Dilwale in 2015, the two reportedly had a fallout. It’s been nearly a decade, and fans still wonder what exactly happened between Khan and Shetty. Dilwale didn’t resonate well with audiences or critics. Following that, rumours surfaced about a possible rift between the two.

However, in a recent conversation with film critic Komal Nahta on his Game Changers podcast, Rohit clarified that the rumours aren’t true and that there is no issue between them.

Addressing the rumours if the Dilwale debacle impacted their relationship, the filmmaker said, “Nahi aisa kuch nahi (There’s nothing like that).” Shetty cleared the air about his bond with Khan by saying, “Ek respect hai humare beech me aur Dilwale ke baad ye hua ki immediately phir humne humare khud ki production house kholi. Humne decide kiya ki hum khud ki filmein banayenge. Agar loss bhi ho to humara ho, jabki loss nahi hua tha. (We have mutual respect. We started our own production house after Dilwale. We decided to make our own films so that if we face a loss, it is on us. However, we did not face a loss in Dilwale).”

The filmmaker also mentioned that Dilwale was a big hit overseas. Interestingly, the film was produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan under their banner, Red Chillies Entertainment. Dilwale was released on December 19, 2015, and it hit theatres on the same day as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Bajirao Mastani, which starred Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Priyanka Chopra. There was a huge box office clash at that time. Deepika’s movie earned Rs 356.2 crore worldwide
