'Illegal, Unethical': Tamil Actress Ramya Subramanian Slams Brand For Misusing Her Video With AI-Generated Voiceover, Threatens Legal Action

Tamil actress and health coach Ramya Subramanian, popularly known as VJ Ramya, has issued a stern warning on social media after discovering that one of her videos was misused online with an AI-generated voiceover.

Taking to her Instagram stories on Tuesday (April 22), Ramya slammed a heath and wellness brand for unlawfully using her content. "This is the third time my video has been misused with an AI-generated voiceover. This is illegal, unethical and a blatant violation of my rights," she wrote.

Further threatening legal action against the brand, Ramya added, "Pull it down NOW — or prepare to face strict legal action." She also tagged the official Instagram account of the brand.

Take a look at Ramya's post here:

It looks like the brand deleted Ramya's video from Instagram after she shared the post as no video is available on their page now.

Ramya, who started her career as a video jockey, has made a mark in Tamil cinema with her performances in films such as O Kadhal Kanmani (directed by Mani Ratnam), Aadai starring Amala Paul, and Vijay’s blockbuster Master. She recently portrayed a psychologist in director Shanthakumar’s Rasavathi and was also seen in Magizh Thirumeni’s action-drama Vidaa Muyarchi, alongside Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan.

Her warning comes at a time when concerns over deepfakes and the unethical use of AI-generated content are growing within the entertainment industry.

Ramya turned a health coach in 2021 after being certified as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, New York.

Back then, Ramya had shared how she was inspired to become a health coach. During the pandemic, when she found herself with plenty of spare time, a friend suggested she enroll in a course offered by a New York-based institute, an idea that eventually led her to pursue certification in the field.
