Mumbai Crime News: Drunk Youth Steals Parked Auto-Rickshaw In Kalyan To Buy Alcohol, Arrested

Mumbai: A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Kalyan for reportedly stealing a rickshaw parked near a residential area to buy alcohol while under the influence. The police in Kalyan apprehended the suspect from Kolshewadi. He is employed as an AC technician and rode the rickshaw while impaired.

According to the report by Navshakti, on April 18, a rickshaw that was parked outside Rajesh Devidayal Mehulia's (age-46) residence was taken from in front of Jai Shrihari Chali in Jimmy Bagh, Kalyan East. After the rickshaw driver's complaint, a case was registered against an unknown thief at the Kolsewadi police station.

On Monday, the authorities caught the suspect, Pranjal Manoj Barve (26 years old, New Jimmy Bagh, Kalyan East), and recovered the stolen rickshaw worth Rs. 65,000, bearing the registration number MH-05-CG-8672.

Pranjal Manoj Barve, arrested for stealing a rickshaw, works as an AC technician. It has been revealed that he used a rickshaw to get liquor because of his alcohol dependency. Nonetheless, when the CNG in the rickshaw ran out, he left it at one spot and escaped. In the end, the police located the rickshaw by utilizing CCTV footage. The stolen car was located close to the Vitthalwadi bus depot.

This prompted a question for the police about why the stolen rickshaw was abandoned there. As a result, the police examined the CCTV footage from the area and recognized the thief, Pranjal Barve, who was recorded on video.

Two days earlier, Pranjal had been drinking alcohol at night and still wanted more. To fulfill this need, he got into the rickshaw parked outside his home and set off to buy liquor. Nevertheless, the rickshaw exhausted its CNG supply while traveling, prompting him to abandon the vehicle at the Vitthalwadi bus depot and head home.
