Twist In Latest Bengaluru Road Rage Case As IAF Officer Booked After Counter Complaint

The Bengaluru police have now booked Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose following a counter-FIR lodged by the other party involved in the altercation. A road rage incident involving an Indian Air Force officer and a call centre employee escalated into a legal battle after both parties filed complaints against each other. The clash occurred early Monday morning while Wing Commander Bose was en route to Kempegowda International Airport from his DRDO quarters.

His wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Dutta, was driving the car when they reportedly encountered Vikas Kumar, a call centre team leader, in what became a heated confrontation.

Initially, Kumar was arrested based on a complaint by the officer’s wife, who alleged that a group of Kannada-speaking men, including Kumar, followed and verbally abused them. Bose also shared a video claiming he was targeted and attacked.

After additional footage surfaced, it showed Bose physically assaulting Kumar in full view of the public, despite attempts by his wife to restrain him. Videos recorded by bystanders, as well as CCTV footage from the area, suggested that both parties were involved in the scuffle, police said, reported Economic Times.

Responding to the incident, Vikas Kumar filed a counter-complaint, claiming he was beaten and his motorbike damaged. Following this, police registered a case against Wing Commander Bose at Byappanahalli police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Devaraj D. confirmed that both individuals engaged in physical altercation and noted that the situation could have been de-escalated by either side.

"When they came to the police station, he was advised by the SHO to get first aid, as he was bleeding, and then return to file the FIR. But since he was getting late, he left for the airport. Once he went live on social media, we found out. We then traced Madhumita's details and approached the DRDO quarters. She came to the station and lodged a complaint. We have registered an FIR under (section dealing with) grievous hurt," he said, as per a report on PTI.
