Campus notes: Career Verse-2025 job fair
Career Verse-2025, a two-day job-cum-summer internship fair, was recently organised by Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST). Over 1,200 students from the university’s teaching departments, affiliated colleges and institutes participated in the event. Vice-Chancellor Narsi Ram Bishnoi congratulated the Training and Placement Cell for organising the first-ever job fair at the university, and called for such events to be made a regular feature, strengthening university-industry relations and student employability. The event hosted 75 companies in offline, hybrid, and virtual modes. Job and internship opportunities were offered in various sectors — including IT, financial services, FMCG and manufacturing. Registrar Dr Vijay Kumar highlighted the university’s outreach initiative, wherein eight teams comprising 28 teachers and student volunteers visited industries in Manesar, Bawal, Gurgaon, Rewari, Delhi, Sonepat, Bahadurgarh, Rohtak, Mohali and Hisar to extend personal invitations for the job fair. Director (Placement) and event convener Dr Partap Singh said 300 students had already been selected, while over 400 students had been shortlisted for final rounds, to be conducted virtually or on company premises. In addition to these, 150 students have been selected for summer internships. The highest CTC offered was Rs 4.5 LPA, he added.
Educational trip to Shimla
Kaithal: The department of English, RKSD College, recently organised a one-day educational trip to Shimla. A group of 35 students, led by Jaibir Dhariwal, explored the ‘queen of hills’ to connect literature with real-world experiences. The itinerary included visits to Jakhu Temple, the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Christ Church and the Ridge. Each destination offered valuable insights into literature, culture and history, turning Shimla into a living classroom and engaging students in meaningful reflections on colonial heritage, democratic processes and Gothic architecture, enriching their understanding of English literature, said Principal Satyabir Mehla. He praised the initiative as a step towards holistic learning. Head of Department Rajbir Parashar highlighted the role of such trips in broadening the outlook of the students.
NatIONAl PR Day celebrated
Kurukshetra: The Institute of Mass Communication And Media Technology at Kurukshetra University celebrated National Public Relations Day on Monday. Dr BR Ambedkar Study Centre Director Dr Pritam, as the chief guest at the event, said public relations could be developed on the basis of confidence, good language and psychological experience. He said, in the era of social media, it was very important to have the knowledge of language, which could shape and mould public relations. Maha Singh Poonia, Director, Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology, said, from a folk cultural point of view, there had been many means of public relations in public life. It was very important for public relations to be strong for national unity and integrity. Poonia added that public relations could be established with millions of people through folk culture and practical knowledge. On this occasion, folk singer and former officer of the state Directorate of Information (Public Relation and Languages) Dr Suraj Bhan Bedi said the government propagated its policies for public welfare through songs, bhajans, ragnis, street plays, poems and folk tales. He added that the Public Relations Department had a vital role in promotion and propagation of the government’s policies and programmes through bhajans and ragnis. The second session of the workshop focused on sound editing. Dr Sudhir Sharma gave delved into ‘swar sadhna’ at the workshop.
201 students to get degrees
Karnal: Dr Dheer Singh, Director and Vice-Chancellor of ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal, said the 21st convocation of the institute would be held on April 22. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be the chief guest. Interacting with mediapersons, the director said 201 students would be awarded degrees during convocation. Dr Singh said an academic fortnight was also organised and students participated in an innovation and creativity contest and international Women’s Day was celebrated. Dr KK Iya Memorial Oration, Dr D Sundaresan Memorial Oration and NN Dastur Memorial Oration lectures were also delivered.
