Chokwe Antar Lumumba, the mayor of Jackson, faces a runoff election. He is under federal indictment. His opponent is state Senator John Horhn. Horhn got an endorsement from US Representative Bennie Thompson. Lumumba's previous vote share dropped significantly. The winner of the runoff will likely become the next mayor. The general election is scheduled for June 3.
