Campus notes: Panjab University
On World Art Day 2025, Dean University Instructions, Panjab University, Yojna Rawat, inaugurated the PU Department of Art History and Visual Arts exhibition “Who am I? An Inner Search Through Wood Art,” at the Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University. The department is hosting a 10 days long solo exhibition. An interactive session by Vienna-based Indian artist Sureel Kumar was also organised today. The exhibition is curated by Tirthankar Bhattacharya, Chairperson and Director, Museum of Fine Arts. Renuka Salwan, Vice-President, National Executive, Public Relations Council of India, attended the exhibition.
Chandigarh University
Chandigarh University hosted Urban Symphony 2025, a two-day event featuring the Global Summit: Future Ready India and the 3rd International Conference on Trends in Architecture &; Construction, bringing together eminent architects, urban planners, experts, policymakers, and innovators to explore transformative strategies to build resilient, future-ready cities and prepare the blueprint for a future ready India in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.With the presentation of 135 research papers selected out of 256 received, including 45 from 11 countries, Urban Symphony 2025 facilitated insightful deliberations on contemporary urban challenges and innovative solutions.
University Institute of Legal Studies
Tanishq Gaba (Convenor, Legal Aid Society 2024–2025) and Manvi Pahwa (Executive Member, Legal Aid Society 2024–2025), students of University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, brought laurels to the institution by securing the runner-Up position at the National Pro Bono Service Competition held at UPES, Dehradun. The competition was part of VidhiUtsav 2025 — India’s largest national legal fest — which witnessed participation from over 120 leading universities across the country.
Desh Bhagat University
Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, was conferred with a special honour by the Young Progressive Sikh Forum (YPSF) during a Baisakhi celebration . The event, led by Dr Prabhleen Singh, President of YPSF and Officer on Special Duty to the Haryana Government, brought together eminent personalities and community leaders to celebrate cultural heritage and progress.
MCM DAV College
The Research Centre of the Postgraduate Department of English at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Sector 36, organised an interactive session with Prof Sachidanand Mohanty, National Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, UGC member, Former Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Odisha, and Dr Rachna Singh, former IRS officer, writer, and Founding Editor of The Wise Owl, a Literary and Art Magazine. Prof Sachidanand Mohanty delivered an insightful lecture on ‘Research Culture in English (Literary) Studies: Key Requisites’.
PGGC, Sector 46
The 40th Prize Distribution Function of Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, celebrated the achievements of students. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director, Higher Education, awarded the winners. A total of 194 merit certificates, 32 Roll of Honour awards, and 91 College Colour awards were conferred upon students in recognition of their exemplary achievements in academics, sports, cultural activities, and their contributions through the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC).
Exhibition on architecture
Chandigarh: To mark World Creativity and Innovation Day, Panjab University on Monday hosted an exhibition on rare architectural drawings from the 1950s and 60s, honouring the legacy of its iconic campus design. Organised under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-PU), the event attracted over 100 visitors, including faculty, students, architects, and engineers.
World Innovation and Creativity Day
The Department of IETVE (Institute of Educational, Technology, and Vocational Education) celebrated World Innovation and Creativity Day. The celebration began with a formal inauguration by chairperson Dr Amritpal Kaur. — TNS
