1 dead, several injured as vehicle plunges into gorge in Dodra Kwar

One woman was killed while many other sustained injuries after an overloaded Bolero (HP 10 A 6385) plunged into a deep gorge in the remote Dodra Kwar region in Shimla district.

The deceased has been identified as Shana Devi (35), a resident of Dodra village.

According to reports, the accident took place today at Chiborr Nala near Gusangu village when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and fall into the gorge. As a result, the woman died on the spot. While five sustained serious injuries, 20 others sustained minor injuries.

A police team rushed to the scene upon receiving the information and carried out a rescue operation to retrieve the injured and also to recover the dead body from the accident site.

Of the 25 injured, 20 persons, who had sustained minor injuries, were rushed to Civil Hospital in Dodra Kwar where they are undergoing treatment. Five others, who were critically injured, have been referred to Civil Hospital, Sandasu for further treatment.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rohru, Pranav Chauhan, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
