Jakhu KV hosts orientation for Class I students, parents
PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jakhu, Shimla, held an orientation programme to welcome its newly admitted Class I students and their parents. Designed to provide a smooth transition into formal schooling, the event introduced families to the school’s ethos, structure and academic environment.
The day began with a traditional welcome as the young learners were greeted with tilak and crowned with decorative headgear by Vice-Principal Sherab Dorje and Headmistress Dr Neelu Sharma. This ceremonial touch added joy and warmth, making the first day of school a memorable one for the children.
The formal proceedings, held in the school auditorium, opened with an inspiring address by Vice-Principal Dorje. He emphasised the importance of discipline, hard work and developing a lifelong love for learning. A cultural performance followed, creatively spreading awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic, underscoring the school’s dedication to environmental consciousness.
Primary teacher Pabak Savai presented an informative PowerPoint session to help parents understand the school’s educational structure, innovative teaching methods and commitment to holistic development.
Headmistress Dr Neelu Sharma addressed the audience with insights into the Vidya Pravesh programme, the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) initiative, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and the implementation of the Holistic Report Card. She also highlighted the indispensable role of parents in nurturing their child’s academic and personal growth.
The orientation aimed to foster confidence and clarity among students and parents alike by familiarising them with school protocols, values, and expectations. It set a positive tone for the journey ahead, building a strong foundation for collaborative learning.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by primary teacher Shabnam, who expressed gratitude to all attendees and extended best wishes for the students’ bright and successful future.
